National Community Tax Coalition

The National Community Tax Coalition, a project of the Center for Economic Progress, has over 500 affiliates from all 50 states. Our goal is to dramatically increase access to tax credits, benefits and asset-building opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals, families and communities.

The Coalition gathers the expertise of community-based free tax preparation and low-income tax credit outreach groups from around the country to share practices, identify program needs, work together to develop public policy favorable to low-income taxpayers, and offer technical assistance and training to new and emerging community tax preparation and outreach efforts.

Our affiliates directly serve hundreds of thousands of low-income taxpayers each tax filing season, and have developed critical knowledge and understanding of the experiences of these taxpayers and the barriers they face accessing the Earned Income Tax Credit and other low-income tax credits. This knowledge fuels our continuing work.

For more information about our work promoting tax policies favorable to low-income taxpayers, contact Erika Schafer.
